Fort Macon State Park

Michael and I headed a bit North for a Saturday trip to Fort Macon. It was really neat learning about the old Civil War fort and exploring the area. We had a lot of fun!

This cannon weighed somewhere around 8900 lbs!

While we were there a group of men dressed in period clothing shot the cannon off for us. LOUD!

The rooms down these steps were really dark and scary.

The fort used to have a moat surrounding it, but now it is just a grassy area.

This was such a great day trip! We finished up the day by going to dinner at a Japanese restaurant with our friend Nick. He was nice and shared his sushi with us, which was surprisingly good! They cooked our meal right in front of us, which was a new experience for me. Our chef was very entertaining. :)
After dinner we went to see The Other Guys. It was really funny!

  2. Is it weird that my favorite part of these pictures is all that beautiful grass?

  3. Oh, definitely not Katy. I also was in awe of the grass, while visiting. It was all squishy and I hadn't felt grass like that since I left WA.... Probably because it used to be a moat!
