Five Weeks

[Written 9/23/11]

Two days ago I had a doctor's appointment, technically for my ears, but I also had them order a pregnancy test. This is just a technicality required by my insurance so that I could get a referral. I was also able to get a prescription for prenatal vitamins (I've been taking some for a while now, but I don't have to pay for them if I have a prescription -- always a plus).

Today I made my first appointment with the OB/GYN clinic, it isn't for about 5 more weeks -- so I'll be about 10 weeks along. They'll do a dating ultrasound to get a better estimate of my due date at this point, and I so badly wish that Michael could join me. He was bummed that he'll be missing the first few appointments.

I'd also like to note that the nausea has started, but it isn't all that bad yet. I just don't have much of an appetite and I don't feel that great after eating.

According to What to Expect When You're Expecting, which my sweet friend loaned me, the baby (okay... technically not a baby yet, but this is my blog so I'll use whatever terminology I feel like..) is about the size of an orange seed. Itty bitty! And has an itty bitty heart that is about the size of a poppy seed. Evidently apple seeds and orange seeds are about the same size because The Bump uses an apple seed for size comparison this week:
