Ten Weeks

I've got 8 more weeks to post before I'm caught up, but I'll get there by the end of the week, I promise! :)

Yesterday I had my first appointment at the OB/GYN clinic. First they did an ultrasound and everything is looking great. The baby is measuring exactly as far along as I thought I was based off of my LMP, meaning that yesterday Baby Wiggles was 9 weeks and 6 days. Our little one had a strong heartbeat of 175 bpm, which I got to hear and see on the ultrasound screen. The baby was a wiggling a whole bunch for the ultrasound, which was entertaining. I was so excited to tell Michael all about it and he was so happy to hear when he called me that night. I think he is more excited that I am! Here is Baby Wiggle's first picture:

I'm surprised she got this good of a picture because, like I mentioned earlier, Baby Wiggles was holding true to the nickname and wiggling all over the place. If you need a little help deciphering, from right to left you'll see: head, arm (brightest part), umbilical cord, and legs. This was fascinating to me considering that the baby is only about 1.2 inches long at this point!

After the ultrasound, I met with a nurse and we went over all the basics... like foods to avoid and things like that, which I've already read about anyways! She also talked about all the classes that are available and who to call with questions. We scheduled my first appointment with my midwife for next week, and then I was off to the lab.

They took 7 vials of blood for testing, which was actually a lot less than I was expecting from the stories I've been hearing! The phlebotomist  was really nice and had a trainee working with him that day, so he asked if it would be okay for her to watch while he explained what he was doing. I had no problem with that, and actually found it really interesting to hear his thought process out loud (Michael would have passed out before he ever got the needle out with all the explaining he was doing, haha). I have a pretty good bruise today, but other than that, is was a pretty much painless, one-stick blood draw. :)
