The Eighth Month

Our little baby has completed two-thirds of her first year. She is eight months old! To celebrate she to got to play in the snow for the first time. :)

She is so curious about everything around her these days. She loves crawling around and exploring. She walks along the furniture to see what she can grab. She is getting pretty brave and will stand on her own every now and then. Not for very long though.

She is so cute when she is excited about something. She squeals and bounces and flaps her arms like a little bird.

She knows how to turn the volume up and down on the record player (eek!) and can turn the PlayStation on and off... even when you're in the middle of an unsaved game (poor daddy).

 

She loves meal times, as long as she isn't too tired! Her favorite foods for this month are whole wheat penne pasta, chicken, orange slices, and fresh green beans. We still don't mash anything, she just munches on pieces of food that she can easily pick up. She is getting really good at taking bites and chewing her food!

We've also started giving her smaller finger foods so she can work on her grasping. In baby led feeding you wait to give smaller foods like peas for a bit because younger babies can get frustrated trying to pick them up. She has been eating peas and quartered grapes. She is doing really well at her pincher grasping and is able to get the little pieces of food to her mouth. Sometimes she'll grasp with one hand and then pincher grasp the food out of her palm with her other hand. Skills.

She also can take sips of water out of a cup with our help and just started drinking water from a straw.

She now takes about two naps a day that last 2-3 hours. She usually naps from 10am to 12:30pm after some morning playtime and breakfast. Her afternoon nap usually starts between 3 or 4 pm. Sometimes earlier or later depending on when she gets tired. I love catching up on chores during nap time, it is so nice that she is sleeping in larger chunks of time during the day now. She used to only take short cat naps all day. I miss her while she sleeps though!
