Michael and I spent the first part of our day at the doctor's office and the lab doing all the routine twenty-eight week things. Baby girl was active as always at the appointment and had a heartrate in the 150s. I also got copies of my chart to take with us while we travel to Washington, just in case. My midwife wasn't concerned about when we're planning on flying and was happy to hear that we had already done our reading about it. Compression socks and walking the aisle every hour.... you know, all that fun stuff. My midwife told me to "Eat, eat, eat!" because I haven't really been able to gain weight well. I think I'm already eating more than Michael! My favorite snack lately has been apples, I wrap them up in a napkin and throw them in my purse when we're headed out the door:
After the appointment, we headed to the lab for blood work to make sure I'm not producing antibodies to Rh positive blood (so I could get my Rhogam shot) and then I did my glucose tolerance test. I was a little disappointed that the glucola they make you chug wasn't syrup-y sweet like I was expecting. I guess I thought it was going to be like drinking candy.... but it was more like a watered down melted orange popsicle. Ha. They also surprised me with more bloodwork after I completed the glucose test. Obviously they wanted to check my blood sugar; no one told me about the four other vials for unrelated things! We then went back to the doctor's office to get my Rhogam shot. Michael was brave and came back with me for it, according to him the needle went insanely far into my arm. It didn't hurt, I'm not even sore really. :)
We treated ourselved to IHOP (free pancake day!) when we were all done and I took a much needed nap when we got home.
I also must add that we enjoyed some beautiful weather today. We were told that it was supposed to get up to 80 degrees outside, but I'm not sure if it ever did. It was lovely nonetheless, and it felt great to get outside in the fresh air. :)
Looking great!!! Can't wait to see you guys!
